Who we are
Bringing slow fashion and alterations to a world of convenience and speed. Let's make things you love and fit you just right!
Annette Kolb is the face behind Netta’s Custom Creations. She started sewing at age ten thanks to a family friend who got her started and the rest was history. Sewing came quite naturally to her as there have been many relatives who have also sewn, and a number of them professionally. As her father says, “she got the sewing gene!”
Annette continued to explore sewing learning a lot through her teenage years in trial and error and experimenting with different patterns, fabrics and projects. She also took the sewing classes offered at her local high school through the Family & Consumer Sciences Department.
In college, Annette studied Family & Consumer Sciences Education, which included an art class specializing in Wearable Arts- or sewing. This class helped Annette to take her skills to the next level and explore pattern making.
Post college, Annette taught High School Family & Consumer Sciences at a local high school, with a focus on the sewing program. Nothing like teaching a couple dozen high school kids to really test your sewing skills and knowledge!
While in college and later while teaching, Annette began picking up different alteration jobs or custom projects for friends and family.
In teaching at the school, Annette learned more about the fashion industry, fast fashion, and even the ethics of fashion. Learning, understanding and teaching these concepts gave Annette more passion for what she does in sewing, that allows time for a creative process and making items custom to the person it’s made for!
